A former American pastor who converted to Islam and became a Muslim preacher, says that friendly treatment he received in Saudi Arabia led him to convert.
Before arriving in Jeddah, Sameul Shropshire, the new Muslim preacher, was afraid of the way the community would treat him due to the negative coverage of the region by Western news agencies.
Shropshire went to Jeddah to work on an easier English translation of the Quran, which allowed him to see the Saudi society up close and made him realise that what is depicted in the media isn’t true.
"I saw good people who take the initiative to greet and have the qualities of generosity, regardless of whether I am a Muslim or not,” said Samuel to Saudi news website Sabq last week.
The kind treatment made him read a lot about Islam and eventually pushed him to convert.
Shropshire always mentions the Saudi people and government in all international forums and constantly expresses his thanks to them.
