An expatriate in Kuwait has filed a police complaint after a colleague filmed him sleeping during work hours, which became grounds for his termination from the job.
According to Arab Times Kuwait, the complainant alleged that his colleague secretly filmed him while he was resting on the job. The man then sent the incriminating footage to their immediate supervisor and later to the department head.
The situation escalated when the supervisor forwarded the same video back to the complainant, accompanied by an official termination letter citing negligence in the performance of his duties.
The expatriate has denied being negligent, explaining that he was simply very exhausted and momentarily fell asleep. He alleges that filming and circulating the video was a deliberate attempt to harm his reputation and career.
The complainant added that he felt betrayed and distressed by the colleague's actions, as he had previously intervened on his behalf and supported him.
The man has accused his colleague of phone misuse and defamation, resulting in significant personal and professional damage. He also announced his intention to file a compensation lawsuit against the individual responsible for the incident.
Authorities have registered the case and initiated investigations into the complaint.
