NETBALL – THE opening match day in the 2025-26 Bahrain Netball Champions League (BNCL) is scheduled to take place tomorrow night at Bahrain Rugby Football Club (BRFC) in Saar.
Eight matches are set to be held to kick off the new campaign, which features 20 teams representing various clubs in the kingdom, including BRFC, The British Club, Dilmun Club, Top Shots, and Nadeen Netball Academy, which is a brand-new squad that will be part of the league’s line-up for the first time.
The field has been divided into four pools for the preliminary round.
In tomorrow’s fixtures, the DC Dunes take on the TS Slammers in Pool A, the RC Tigers face the DC Seals in Pool B, the TS Shakers take on the NNA Wolves in Pool C, and the RC Leopards play the TS Shooters in Pool D – all at 7.15pm.
Those games will be followed by another four starting from 8.15pm. BC Apex will face RC Panthers in Pool A, RC Lions battle RC Wildcats in Pool B, DC Flames play RC Jaguars in Pool C, and NNA Alpha take on RC Pumas in Pool D.
The BNCL is the first of two parts in the kingdom’s 2025-26 netball season. This opening phase continues until December. Following the preliminaries, the participating squads will be divided into the cup, bowl, shield, and plate.
The second part of the campaign then begins in January of 2026. It will split the clubs into two tiers – the Superleague and the Bahrain Netball League (BNL). The Superleague will boast the leading teams from each club, while the BNL will consist of the remaining sides.
Leading up to tomorrow evening’s action, a Think Pink Netball Tournament was played over the weekend as the official kick-off event for the 2025-26 schedule. It was held at the British Club in Adliya and Daisies team were crowned winners.
The one-day competition also helped raise funds that will be donated to Bahrain Breast Cancer Society.
