FOOTBALL – THE Bahrain Football Association (BFA) has been accredited by the United Nations (UN) as an official member of the Football for the Goals initiative, the BFA announced yesterday.
As part of this programme, the BFA is committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implementing policies consistent with them, the BFA said in a statement.
It added that this initiative sets a path to leadership in the field of sustainable development and human rights, and a driver of positive change within and beyond the football community.
The BFA highlighted that its membership acceptance is an important administrative achievement that places the association amongst those that support SDGs through football, allowing the BFA to benefit from the resources and programmes of the UN.
BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa affirmed that the BFA is keen to align with the efforts of Bahrain towards progressing in achieving the targets of Vision 2030, and to extend national efforts that contribute to accelerating the related goals at the national and international levels.
