FUTSAL – Bahrain have achieved their highest-ever position on the Fifa Futsal Men’s World Ranking after climbing 14 places to 69th.
The latest edition of the classification of senior men’s futsal national teams was released on Friday by football’s international governing body.
Bahrain improved to 69th following a 24.82 jump on raking points and are now on 988.95. Their best-ever placement was confirmed by the Bahrain Football Association.
The nationals are also third from teams in the GCC, behind Kuwait who are 43rd and Saudi Arabia who are 48th. Qatar are 89th, Oman 92nd, and the UAE 103rd.
Amongst futsal national teams in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Bahrain are 18th.
Iran are the top-ranked continental side and fifth internationally, followed by Thailand in 11th, Japan in 13th, Uzbekistan in 19th, and Indonesia in 25th.
The top five in the world are Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, and the Iranians.
In the previous edition of the ranking published by the global football governing body in April of this year, the Bahrainis had dropped eight spots to 83rd.
