Two men died after they were left stranded in the desert during a trip that turned deadly in Saudi Arabia. The two victims, identified as Hamoud Jifin Al Saadi and Walid Khusheim Al Saadi, had ventured into the desert when their car broke down and got stuck in the sand.
Despite repeated efforts to free the vehicle, they were unable to escape and soon succumbed to the extreme heat and lack of water.
Dr Mohammed Ubaid Al Saadi, Walid’s uncle, told Okaz newspaper that the pair had tried to dislodge the vehicle before giving up.
'They went out into that desert area, but the car got trapped among the sand dunes. They tried to free it, but with no water and in the fierce heat, they could not survive,' he said.
Rescue teams and volunteer groups dispatched to the area were able to find their bodies and transported them to a local hospital. Funeral arrangements are now underway.
