The US Department of Agriculture is reportedly using the audio of an explosive argument scene in the film Marriage Story to scare off wolves from killing cattle and scaring livestock on farms across the country.
The department uses drones with thermal cameras to spot predators and flashes a spotlight at them while playing distressing sounds on a loudspeaker.
The drones typically play the sound of gunshots and fireworks, however, recently a recording of Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver’s argument from the film has been added to the list, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
Wolves find the sound of people arguing distressing and tend to run away.
The practice, known as ‘wolf hazing’, also uses loud music. Heavy metal songs such as AC/DC’s Thunderstruck has also been used to startle wolves back into the woods, helping to decrease the number of livestock deaths.
The fight scene is the most emotionally volatile moment in Baumbach’s 2019 drama, which earned both Johansson and Driver Oscar nominations.
