Shaaker Al Otaibi donated his kidney to his best friend of 17 years, Fahad, without telling anyone, not even Fahad himself.
Fahad had been battling kidney failure for years until Shaaker learned that his tissue was a match.
“I just wanted to save his life,” Al Otaibi said.
He performed this selfless act quietly and without any expectation of fanfare.
The story came to light when Al Otaibi appeared on the television programme Sabah Al Arabiya and revealed that Fahad remained unaware of the donor's identity until well after the transplant.
