Prince Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud of Saudi Arabia has died after spending two decades in a coma.
Prince Al Waleed, known as the ‘Sleeping Prince’, went into a coma at the age of 15 following a 2005 accident. He was studying as a military cadet in London at the time.
Although Prince Al Waleed largely remained unresponsive, his father Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud kept him on life support in hopes of his son regaining consciousness.
The heartbreaking story of patience and love sent the Kingdom into mourning, and condolences began flooding social media platforms under the hashtag #SleepingPrince.
