The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is being "seriously considered" by Iran, according to Esmail Kosari, a member of the parliament's security commission.
The consideration comes after rising tensions in the region after Israel's attack on Tehran and Iran's subsequent retalliation.
The Strait of Hormuz, the gate to the Arabian gulf, is one of the world's most vital trading arteries, particularly for oil with roughly 35% of the world's oil flowing through the strait.
