FOOTBALL – AL Hidaya Al Khalifia Secondary Boys School defeated Riffa East Secondary Boys School 1-0 in the final of the Nasser Bin Hamad Football Tournament for Secondary Schools for the 2024-25 academic year.
The final was held by the Education Ministry under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The event was attended by SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, GSA deputy chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, SCYS second deputy chairman Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma, and GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar.
Shaikh Khalid presented the trophies to winners Al Hidaya Al Khalifia, runners-up Riffa East School, and Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre, who finished third. Bahrain Bayan School were presented with the Fair Play Award.
Shaikh Khalid praised the teams’ performances and highlighted the tournament’s role in developing school football and identifying young talent. He commended Shaikh Nasser’s support for sports and youth development, emphasising the importance of investing in future athletes.
Shaikh Khalid also recognised the ministry’s efforts in promoting school sports and fostering a competitive spirit among students. He emphasised the importance of such events in preparing young athletes for Bahrain’s national teams.
Dr Juma thanked Shaikh Khalid for his support, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to enhancing school sports and nurturing young talent.
