BASKETBALL – NUWAIDRAT maintained their unbeaten record in League B of the 2024-25 Zain Bahrain Basketball League last night with a massive 99-52 victory over Bahrain Club.
Nuwaidrat waxed hot in the first quarter and built a 30-7 lead heading into the second. They never looked back and went ahead by as many as 54 points in the third period en route to the blowout result.
Emran Hasan scored 18 points off the bench for the victors while Malik Wineglass had 17 and nine rebounds. Murtadha Salman chipped in with 14 and Abbas Jameel Ebrahim had 11 to go with 11 assists.
Hamad Jassim was Bahrain Club’s lone player in double figures with 15.
Nuwaidrat claimed their eighth win in as many tries while Bahrain Club dropped their sixth game to go with just two victories.
In last night’s other fixture, also in League B, Samaheej edged out Sitra 82-76.
Samaheej opened the final period with a 9-2 run that made it 68-56 and they held on from there. Sitra got back to within five points with under two minutes left but came no closer.
Mohammed Abdulla Jaffar led five Samaheej players in double figures with 19 points and nine rebounds while Ahmed Adel Abbas chipped in with 15 and Ahmed Ayman 13.
Mahdi Abdulameer and Ebrahim Murad Ebrahim paced Sitra in the loss with 19 points apiece.
Samaheej claimed their fourth win in eight tries while Sitra fell for the fifth time to go with three wins.
Action continues today and tomorrow with three Premier League fixtures. This evening, three-time defending champions Manama go up against Al Najma at 6pm, followed by Al Ettihad taking on Al Ahli at 8pm.
Tomorrow, Al Hala face off with Muharraq at 8pm.
