MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport were on track at the Dubai Autodrome in the UAE yesterday as part of private test sessions ahead of this weekend’s events in the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS) – the continent’s premier endurance racing championship.
The 2 Seas crew of American Anthony McIntosh, Canadian Parker Thompson, and Briton Ben Barnicoat put in some work in their #96 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
In the first test, they completed 30 laps around the 5.39-kilometre circuit and had a fastest time of one minute 59.960 seconds. In the second, they posted a best lap of 2:00.104 with 33 laps run.
The meeting officially gets underway today with a pair of practice sessions – one each in the morning and the early evening. Qualifying is then set for tomorrow morning with the first of two four-hour races flagging off later that afternoon. The second event of the weekend will then be held on Sunday afternoon. These mark the third and fourth rounds of the championship.
2 Seas, co-owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, are making their first competitive appearance of 2025. They are set to be one of 47 cars hitting the track this weekend, and are racing as part of a packed 30-car grid in the GT class. The other two classes are LMP2 and LMP3.
The ALMS is run by the organisers of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, and it holds six races this campaign.
Teams competing in the ALMS are not only gunning for championship glory, but also for invitations to race in Le Mans later this year – one of the biggest and most prestigious events in all of motorsport.
The champions of both the LMP2 and GT classes will be awarded invites to be a part of the iconic event in Le Mans, France, which is a part of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The ALMS was created by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), which also organises the WEC.
