A dramatic chase at Pench National Park in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, India, resulted in a predator and prey: a tiger cub and wild boar being trapped together in a farm well.
Officials shared the video, which went viral, showing the unusual struggle of both animals to escape the farm well in Pipariya village. Villagers noticed the bizarre incident and alerted the forest department for help.
The wildfire rescue teams immediately launched an hour-long operation involving 60 rescuers. They meticulously lowered a cradle into the well using a rope to allow the tigress to sit on it. Next, they used a hydraulic crane to lower a cage into the well and carefully capture the tigress. A similar method was used to rescue the boar as well.
Fortunately, the Pench Tiger Reserve rescued both animals safely and stated, "A tiger and a boar accidentally fell into a well in Pipariya village near the reserve. Thanks to the swift action of the Pench Tiger Reserve rescue team, the big cat and the boar were safely rescued! With expert coordination and care, both animals were pulled out unharmed and released back."
The chief wildlife conservator has directed the tigress to be released into the Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary, which is part of the Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve in the Sagar district.
