BASKETBALL – Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) vice-president Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa chaired the first meeting of the organising committee overseeing the Fiba Mid-Term Congress and Fiba Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony, to be held in Bahrain from May 14 to 18.
Shaikh Isa conveyed the greetings of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and BOC president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the committee members.
Shaikh Isa congratulated them on their selection and commended their expertise and experience, which will contribute to the success of the event, hosted for the first time in Bahrain through co-ordinated efforts across government and private entities.
The meeting included a presentation by Fiba representatives, followed by a briefing from Pico on its organisational plan for the event, and a discussion on key requirements.
Shaikh Isa noted the importance of intensifying efforts to ensure all preparations for hosting the congress and ceremony are completed to the highest standards.
Also in attendance during the meeting were GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar and Bahrain Basketball Association president Alaa Mudara.
