ENDURANCE HORSERACING – THE Khalid Bin Hamad Endurance Championship got underway yesterday at Bahrain International Endurance Village in Sakhir, in the presence of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The event is taking place under the patronage of SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Nasser followed the day’s international and local rides, which featured wide participation.
Yesterday’s events were also attended by Supreme Council for the Environment deputy chairman, Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club deputy chairman, and SCYS member Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
SCYS secretary general Ayman Almoayyed participated in the day’s 40km local race, while there were also 120km and 100km international rides as well as local events of 100km and 80km.
The main event – a 120km ride featuring private stables for the Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup – is scheduled for today morning at the same venue.
The championship is supported by diamond sponsor Bapco Energies, platinum sponsors Benaa and Al Salam Bank, gold sponsor GFH Bank, silver sponsor Alba, and bronze sponsor the Bahrain Economic Development Board.
