The Bangladesh Embassy and the Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) have announced that the Bangladesh-Bahrain Friendship Cricket Cup 2024 will be held today, from 2pm to 4pm, at the Alba Club field.
The friendly sporting event is being jointly organised to celebrate the year 2024 as it marks the golden jubilee of strong diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Bahrain as well as the silver jubilee of His Majesty King Hamad’s accession to the throne. Moreover, it is also being organised in celebration of the National Day of Bahrain and the Victory Day of Bangladesh, as both occasions are celebrated on the same day, December 16.
On the occasion, the Chargé d’Affaires of the embassy, A K M Mohiuddin Kayes, thanked the BCF for its collaboration and support in co-organising the friendly cricket match. He also hoped that the event would further strengthen the diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Bahrain, particularly through sports.
BCF advisory board chairman Mohammad Mansoor also expressed his delight for the opportunity to co-organise the Friendship Cricket Cup with the embassy and hoped that the event would foster greater friendship between the two countries in the coming days.
BCF president Sami Ali said: “I believe that sport, particularly cricket, serves as a universal language that transcends borders.”
The embassy and BCF have made arrangements to ensure that the match would be a memorable event. All cricket enthusiasts in Bahrain have been invited to witness today’s match and celebrate the enduring friendship between Bahrain and Bangladesh.
