Cycling – Bani Jamra Club cyclist Mohammed Hassan Jawad won the fourth round race of the Khalid Bin Hamad Golden Generation Cycling League 2024 on the Southern Governorate’s cycling track.
Bahrain Cycling Federation president Dr Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, federation officials, the organising committee, and representatives of the competing teams were present. The race also saw a good turnout of spectators and supporters of the sport.
In spite of intense competition from 17 riders representing Bani Jamra Club, Al Badi Club, Elite Cycling Academy, and MMM Cycling Academy, Mohammed won first place in the junior category race, which covered a distance of 40km, with a noteworthy time of 56.25 minutes.
With a time of 1.01.12 hours, Elite Academy cyclist Abdulaziz Saleh Al Hamri finished in second position, while Hassan Aqil Thamer finished in third place with a time of 1.03.02 hours.
The Elite Academy team took first place in the team competition with a total player ranking of 11 points, surpassing the Bani Jamra Club team, which finished second with a total player ranking of 15 points, and the MMM Academy team, which finished third with a total player ranking of 23 points, based on the final results of all competitors.
In the Cubs category’s fourth race covering a distance of 6km, the Bani Jamra Club’s cyclists, Thamer Aqeel Abdul Ameer, who finished first with a time of 17.05 minutes, Laith Mohammed Matrouk, who finished second with a time of 17.06 minutes, and Hussein Ali Hassan, who finished third with a time of 17.07 minutes, took home the top three spots.
Dr Shaikh Khalid crowned the winners amid celebrations.
