Bahrain has awarded the first medals of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships 2024 this evening, reports Patrick Oliver Salomon.
Zhao Jinhong of China struck gold for the total in the women’s 45kg A competition. She was crowned world champion while also setting a new world record in the total of 200kg, as well as in the clean and jerk of 113kg on her third and final attempt. She had earlier equalled the world record snatch of 87kg.
Hyon Sim Won of North Korea and Dinh Thi Pham of Vietnam joined Zhao on the podium for totals.
