Bahrain's star cueist Habib Sabah won the bronze medal yesterday in the men’s six-red singles snooker competition in the Arab Billiards and Snooker Championships 2024, currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Sabah claimed his third medal of the tournament, adding to his bronze in the men’s masters singles event and the bronze he won with playing partner Hesham Al Saqer in the men’s doubles event.
Bahrain have now come away with a total of nine medals overall – with the other six being won in the billiards competitions so far.
Brothers Hussain Maroom and Haider Maroom have spearheaded the charge in billiards. Hussain claimed a gold medal in the men’s under-19 singles nine-ball category, and also the silver in the senior men’s singles nine-ball competition. He then teamed up with Haider and Ebrahim Al Qaed to capture the gold in the senior men’s doubles 10-ball event.
Haider, meanwhile, won a gold medal in the men’s under-17 singles 10-ball, and two bronze medals in the men’s under-19 singles nine-ball and the men’s under-17 singles nine-ball competitions.
