The importance of corporate governance in ensuring the resilience, transparency, and ethical operations of Islamic banks and financial institutions was highlighted in a lecture hosted by the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (Cibafi) at the University of Bahrain (UoB).
Titled ‘Islamic Finance in a Changing Landscape: The Role of Corporate Governance and Ethical Practices’, the lecture was delivered by Cibafi secretary-general Dr Abdelilah Belatik who spoke about improvements in governance frameworks but also addressed challenges posed by digital banking, evolving regulations, and disruptive events .
