HORSERACING – MILITARY Academy claimed an impressive victory yesterday in an international horserace in the UK.
Competing for owners Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) High Committee honorary president Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and REHC High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Military Academy won the Graham Daish Memorial British EBF Novice Stakes at Salisbury Racecourse.
Tom Marquand steered the John and Thady Gosden-trained contender to the win after 10 furlongs. At No Time came second for owners Juddmonte, trainer Ralph Beckett, and jockey Rossa Ryan; while Valvano was third for Valmont, Bekcett, and Hector Crouch.
In another race in the UK yesterday, Magnum Force claimed third place for owner Shaikh Abdulla Al Khalifa, trainer G M Lyons, and jockey Colin Keane in the Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers Stakes (Group Two) race, held at Doncaster Racecourse.
Magnum Force finished the five-furlong event behind winner Aesterius, competing for Wathnan Racing, Archie Watson, and James Doyle; and runner-up Big Mojo, representing RP Racing Ltd, Michael Appleby, and Silvestre De Sousa.
