BODYBUILDING – THE Bahrain Bodybuilding Federation (BBF) announced yesterday attractive prize money for winners in the 2024 Khalid bin Hamad Open Bodybuilding Championship.
The competition is set to take place August 23 at University of Bahrain, with bodybuilders from around the world going for gold in 17 categories.
The event will take place under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority president, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The BBF has approved the monetary awards for the participants, according to finance committee chairman Hussain Baqer.
In the men’s bodybuilding 70kg, 80kg, 90kg, and over-90kg weight classes, winners will each receive BD800 in prize money, with BD300 going to the runner-up and BD100 to third place.
In the men’s physique categories for up to and including 170cm, 174cm, and 179cm, and over-179cm, winners will also get BD800, while second place will take home BD300 and third BD100.
In the men’s classic physique classes of up to and including 168cm, 171cm, 175cm, and 180cm, the winner gets BD800, the runner-up BD300, and third place BD100.
The same amounts will be taken home by the winners in the muscular men’s physique up to and including 179cm and over-179cm categories.
Meanwhile, only the winners in the junior men’s bodybuilding, the master bodybuilding 40-and-above, and master physique 40-and-above classes will be awarded prize money. They will take away BD500 apiece.
Preparations for the championship are in full swing and all efforts are being exerted to ensure its successful organisation, said Baqer. The working committees are stepping up their plans, under the leadership of BBF president and supreme organising committee chairman Sami Al Haddad.
