PARA ATHLETICS – Two of Bahrain’s top para-athletes will be going for gold at the Para Athletics World Championships 2024 in Kobe, Japan, set to be held from Friday to May 25.
The multi-day meeting is the world’s premier para-athletics event established by the International Paralympic Committee. It is one of the most important qualifying competitions for the Paralympic Games.
Flying the kingdom’s flag will be leading para-athletes Ruba Youssef Al Amri and Hussain Abdulaziz. Al Amri will be competing in the discus throw in the F55 category, while Abdulaziz will be contesting the 400 metres in the T11 category.
The Bahraini pair are two of more than 1,000 para-athletes representing more than 100 countries from around the world taking part in 168 medal events. Action on the track and in the field is scheduled to get underway on Friday.
Bahrain’s delegation has departed for the world championships. The nationals are headed by mission director Shaikha Al Shaiba, and they include coaches Musa Hassan, Hassan Muftah and Ahmed Mushaima, as well as partner athlete Abdulla Dajmat.
