BAHRAIN’S Ambassador to the US Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa participated in the third National Space Council Meeting, chaired by American Vice President Kamala Harris.
The meeting discussed expanding and strengthening the Artemis Accords coalition, signed by 33 countries with the aim of supporting sustainable and safe exploration of space.
It also discussed the potential and expansion of space activities, climate change, and the need to establish new international rules and norms for space exploration.
The ambassador highlighted the kingdom’s achievements in the space sector, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad, which include joining the Artemis Accords, announced during the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Washington in March 2022.
The Artemis Accords, in which Bahrain is represented by the National Space Science Authority (NSSA), provides a framework to develop co-operation opportunities between member states.
