The UAE-based Prime Healthcare Group has announced a strategic collaboration with Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, for the acquisition of a Truebeam radiotherapy system and Bravos afterloader system for the upcoming Marie Curie Cancer Institute (MCCI).
The cancer centre will provide a comprehensive cancer care system including medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology.
Announcing the strategic collaboration at Arab Health 2023, Dr Jamil Ahmed, Managing Director of the Group, said: "We are going to work with Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, and have extended the long-term collaboration with Siemens Healthineers in the region.”
Laurent Amiel, President Radiation Oncology Solutions EMEA at Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, elaborated: “As the cancer burden continues to rise, we are proud to work with Prime Hospital to expand access to high quality cancer care. Together with Siemens Healthineers, we support the entire cancer care pathway, from screening to survivorship, giving us an important opportunity to improve the care experience for patients and clinicians alike. We look forward to extending our reach and advancing our mission to create a world without fear of cancer.”
The foundation for this extended partnership is the existing and trusting long-term relationship between Prime Healthcare Group and Siemens Healthineers, which entails the equipment and servicing of the radiology department of Prime Healthcare Group facilities in Dubai.
Ole Per Maloy, Zone Head MESA, SHS EMEA MESA, said: “We as Siemens Healthineers, with our colleagues from Varian, are delighted to partner with Prime Hospital as we are joining forces to address the complete cancer care continuum, ultimately helping to pave the way for intelligent cancer care. This collaboration can be a prototype for the region of how we can accelerate patient impact and transform oncology through synergies from our comprehensive and complementary portfolio based on integrated, connected care pathways, from best-in-class imaging to cancer therapy and follow-up care.”
The Marie Curie Cancer Institute (MCCI) will be an integral part of Prime Healthcare Group’s AED450-million multi-specialty hospital, coming up in Dubai’s Healthcare City district. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new hospital took place earlier in December 2022. – TradeArabia News Service
