The Omani Supreme Committee held a meeting yesterday to discuss taking actions against rising cases in the country.
Chairperson and Minister of Interior Faisal Al-Busaidi led the meeting at the Interior Ministry.
The committee analysed the latest data on the virus and its variants, as well their behavior in several countries. They also examined the surge in cases, hospitalisations and deaths within its borders.
They eventually decided on a number of measures to further protection and safeguard the health system.
The curfew on commercial activity as well as movement will continue to take effect from July 16 to July 31 from 5 pm to 4 am daily, except for the three days of Eid.
This covers all governorates except the Governorate of Musandam where infection rates continue to be low. However, those living in the area are still advised to wear face coverings and avoid social gatherings.
Flights have now been resumed from Egypt, however, several new countries have been added to the red list, including Singapore, Indonesia, Iran and Iraq. This includes passengers who have visited the aforementioned red list countries 2 weeks proir to their flight to Oman.
This rule will come into effect from 5 pm on the 9th of July until further notice.
Residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccine and are above the age of 18 can now enter the Governorate of Dhofar, effective 5 pm, July 9.
Foreign entrants who have had two doses of the vaccine can also now enter the Governorate of Dhofar, effective 5pm, July 9.
However, there is a 50% limit on hotel and furnished apartment capacity in the governorate.
The Supreme Committee stressed that there shall be no Eid prayers, pre-Eid souqs, or gatherings (familial and public).
