Al Zaim Team’s Nasser Nayef Al Balooshi has won the 100km race at the annual King’s Cup Endurance Festival, clocking three hours, 59 minutes and 20 seconds.
Hassan Essam Fardan (Al Zaim) came second at 4:08:31 and Mohammed Ammy (Ahmed Al Fateh Stables) third at 4:48:20.
In the 80km race, Victorious Team rider Ahmed Abdulwahab Al Barri was the winner (5:06:01).
He was followed by Sarra Ahmed (Al Shawamekh Stables) at 5:07:25 and Al Shawamekh Stables’ Ali Ahmed Shakeeb (5:07:25).
The races were held at the Bahrain International Endurance Village.
The three-day event, which concludes tomorrow, is being held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad and on the directives of the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) honorary chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Two 120km races, one for U-16 and U-13 categories and the second for the public, will be held today.
The four-stage race will kick off at 7pm at the Bahrain International Endurance Village.
Shaikh Nasser expressed delight at the success of the first two days, praising Breef’s efforts, chaired by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
Another race restricted to families (Anjal) will also be held today, featuring budding riders, along with their families.
The races scheduled for today will be aired lived on Bahrain Sports Channel.
