Dubai: A new fatwa issued by the Dubai’s Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities prohibits people from using other’s Internet WiFi services without the owner’s permission.
The fatwa came in response to a query from a person asking about the legality of people using others’ Internet WiFi secretly.
This could reduce Internet speed for the genuine user because of sharing by others.
The fatwa was published on the website of the department under the ‘modern fatwas’ section.
According to the fatwa, “It is not permissible for people to use what belongs to others without payment or without their permission.”
