Kuwait: Kuwaiti MP Abdulhamid Dashti, who lost his parliamentary immunity, could face up to three years in prison.
The Kuwaiti National Assembly on Tuesday voted in favour of stripping Abdulhamid Dashti’s immunity for repeatedly defaming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Under the Kuwaiti law, any individual convicted of hostile act against a foreign country, which may expose Kuwait to war or the severance of diplomatic relations shall be jailed up to three years.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry received an official memo from the Saudi Embassy after MP Dashti appeared on Syrian Al-Ekhbariya TV channel on February 24 and attacked Saudi Arabia, reported local Arabic daily Al-Qabas.
