Mecca: The highest suspended mosque in the world will be constructed in the city of Mecca, in Saudi Arabia.
The real estate committee, which is affiliated with Mecca Chamber of Commerce, announced that work on the suspended mosque has started.
The suspended mosque will link the two skyscrapers making up the Jebel Omar Tower and have a panoramic view of the Mecca Grand Mosque and the Kaaba.
The suspended mosque will also be connected to the Mecca Grand Mosque using hi-tech acoustic and audiovisual equipment.
Once completed, the 161-metre-high and 10-metre-wide suspended mosque will be able to accommodate 200 worshippers altogether.
Half (50 per cent) of the 400-square-metre mosque will be allocated for praying while the other half will be used for other services.
