Manama: Bahrain is committed to supporting international efforts to combat terrorism and achieve lasting regional stability, the Crown Prince said yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, also stressed the importance of eradicating extremist ideologies and their financial resources.
He was speaking as he met US Central Command Deputy Commander Vice Admiral Mark Fox at Gudaibiya Palace.
During the meeting, the Crown Prince stressed that Bahrain is committed to upholding the principles of coexistence and openness, and that Bahrain, alongside its international partners, will resolutely combat terrorist organisations. The Crown Prince affirmed that the kingdom will continue to contribute to the fight against extremism.
Abhorrent attacks carried out by terrorist groups are entirely unrepresentative of Islamic principles, he pointed out.
Additional issues of shared interests, as well as the longstanding strategic relationship between Bahrain and the US, were also discussed .
