Manama: The members of the jury panel who will evaluate applicants and determine the winners of the second Bahrain Award for Entrepreneurship have been announced.
To be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, the awards will be given on March 6.
The jury members are Al Salam Bank chairwoman and inJAz Bahrain executive director Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, chief executive of Alf Khair, a social enterprise in Saudi Arabia and founder and creative director of luxury brand Baraboux Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, Naspers Group chief operating officer for Middle East and Africa Anvita Varshney, 500 Startups founding partner Dave McClure, Wamda co-founder and chief executive Habib Haddad, Roland Berger regional managing partner Kushal Shah, Deutsche Telecom marketing director Mohammed ElSayad, WAIN founding member Nina Curley, serial entrepreneur, mentor and angel investor Tarek Amin and Mowgli Foundation founder Tony Bury.
Tamkeen chairman and acting chief executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa said the response from business owners in the award’s second edition, demonstrated by the increased turnout of applicants in distinct types of categories throughout the submission period, had been very positive.
The six awards categories include: Micro-enterprise of the Year, Start-up of the Year, SME of the Year, Sustain-able Business Award, Enter-prise of the Year with Interna-tional Footprint and Female Entre-preneur of the Year.
A seventh award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, will be granted in honour of entrepreneurs who have demonstrated an exemplary track record of performance in business.
The awards enjoy the support of strategic partners which include Economic Development Board, Bahrain Development Bank and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with knowledge advisers led by the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry, EY Bahrain and Unido AICEI.
