Manama: A senior government official has called on businessmen using the Business Licensing Integrated System (BLIS) to not reveal their confidential data to clearing agents and others.
In a statement, Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry assistant under-secretary for domestic trade Hameed Yousif Rahma said data such as the identification (ID) number and password of the eKey account enabled not only business licensing-related services but also several other eServices.
“Revealing eKey account details to someone could give them the ability to transform ownership of business records, changing user’s address, accessing confidential data related to other services such as housing, as well as violating the privacy of various information relevant to the eKey owner.”
eKey accounts are available to both citizens and GCC residents.
“Having an eKey account will ensure high-level of security, with the capability of benefiting from many services by entering information only once – regardless of the diverse data required for each service,” he said.
Mr Rahma also called upon businessmen to ensure that they upload on the website (www.business.gov.bh), an authorisation given by them to clearing agents or others to obtain commercial licences on their behalf.
Such steps, he said, would help them to secure their rights and protect their privacy while reducing the possibilities of any abuse.
“The authorisation limits the authority on the selected commercial activities only – without accessing other
government services.”
Following a verification done by the ministry on the validity of the data, the authorised person would be capable of utilising the system and completing the necessary transactions to get the electronic
licences.
“In the event of previously handing the personal information of accessing the eKey to others, a new password can be set via the system within the feature forget password, or by calling the National Contact Centre on 8000 8001 in order to attain further assistance.
“GCC citizens who own an ID number and wish to create an eKey account in order to benefit from BLIS, are advised to visit Bait Al Tijjar in Sanabis during the official working hours;.
“They should carry their identification cards, valid passports along with residential addresses in the kingdom – so as to register their information and activate their accounts.”
The official further said that the ministry in collaboration with the Central Informatics Organisation and eGovernment Authority was developing the system to meet the needs of all users in line with the Economic Vision 2030.
