Abu Dhabi – A medicine used to control high blood sugar diabetic patients has been withdrawn from the markets in the United Arab Emirates.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention sent a circular to all medical districts, public and private hospitals, doctors and pharmacies to take Dialon 500mg, which is used to treat diabetes, due to its dissolution failure.
Dialon, manufactured by the Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar), contains an effective substance called Metformin.
The decision to withdraw Dialon 500 mg was based on results of medical studies which showed that the medication had failed to provide the required solubility.
