Bahrain: Government employees will have “freedom to work from anywhere and at any time using their favourite devices and platforms” following the signing of an agreement between the National Informatics and eGovernment Organisation and Microsoft.
The enterprise agreement is part of a strategy to make civil servants more productive, agile and efficient.
It involves the deployment of software that allows employees to use up to 15 business and personal devices to work in Microsoft applications.
“By giving government employees the freedom to work from anywhere and at any time using their favourite devices and platforms, we aim to increase productivity, simplify team collaboration and enhance their work-life balance,” said the authority’s information technology director Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
“This new agreement with Microsoft comes as part of our strategy to improve the delivery of government information, products and services through technology.
“It will also contain the operation costs through technology-enabled efficiencies and increase our government workforce productivity by empowering them with 21st Century tools and skills.”
