His Majesty King Hamad has affirmed the importance of strengthening co-operation and co-ordination between Bahrain, the GCC countries and the European Union.
The King was speaking as he received a telephone call from European Council President Antonio Costa.
During the call, Mr Costa expressed solidarity with Bahrain following the recent hostile attacks launched by Iran.
He affirmed the European Council’s support for Bahrain and for all measures undertaken by the kingdom to safeguard its security and protect its national interests and praised the strong ties between the European Union and Bahrain.
Mr Costa noted that diplomacy and dialogue remain the best path to achieving security and stability, stressing the importance of continuing efforts to support diplomatic solutions and safeguard security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in a manner that enhances regional and international security and stability.
His Majesty expressed appreciation to Mr Costa for the European Council’s solidarity with Bahrain, affirming the importance of further consolidating bilateral relations in a manner that serves shared interests and supports security and stability in the region and the world.
