HORSERACING – Victorious Forever contender Bay City Roller secured a remarkable victory in the Group One Coronation Cup yesterday, held as part of the Epsom Downs Derby in Britain.
The four-year-old, trained by George Scott and ridden by jockey Oisin Murphy, put in a strong and impressive performance to win the £1million, 2,400-metre event, cementing his place amongst the world’s elite horses in long-distance racing.
On this occasion, His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the achievement, affirming that it reflects Victorious Forever’s ongoing development on the international horseracing stage.
Shaikh Nasser explained that this major victory in one of the world’s most prestigious races is the result of teamwork and proper planning and confirms that the team constantly strives for global successes that reflect the kingdom’s standing in horseracing.
Shaikh Nasser lauded the outstanding performance of Murphy during the race and the great efforts made by Scott in preparing Bay City Roller in the best possible condition.
