His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday met Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand.
The meeting took place as part of Ms Anand’s visit to Bahrain to take part in the Third GCC-Canada Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the strength of the relationship between Bahrain and Canada, emphasising that it is one underpinned by a shared commitment to advancing co-operation across sectors in support of both nations’ aspirations.
He stressed the importance of deepening co-operation to create opportunities that benefit the citizens of both nations.
Ms Anand conveyed the greetings of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to HRH Prince Salman, along with his wishes for Bahrain’s continued progress and prosperity.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister conveyed his greetings to Prime Minister Carney and expressed his wishes for Canada’s continued growth and development.
He expressed hope for the meetings to be successful and that their outcomes would contribute to strengthening co-operation between the GCC and Canada.
HRH Prince Salman underscored the significance of the Third GCC-Canada Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue in enhancing co-operation and co-ordination across various fields, advancing shared objectives, and supporting efforts to promote regional security, stability, and development.
The meeting also reviewed the opportunities to advance further co-operation between Canada and Bahrain across various sectors, particularly in the economic and commercial fields. Regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual interest, were also discussed.
Ms Anand affirmed Canada’s support for Bahrain and GCC member states in confronting the hostile Iranian aggression going on to stress the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard freedom of maritime navigation.
Ms Anand expressed her sincere gratitude for HRH Prince Salman’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various fields and for his support of co-operation between GCC member states and Canada, wishing the kingdom continued progress.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa also attended the meeting.
