Two Bahrain residents have been conferred Pakistan’s top civil awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions and services.
Pakistan Ambassador Saquib Rauf presented the Sitara-e-Imtiaz to Saleem Asghar Ali and the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Noor Rehman Abid on behalf of the President during an investiture ceremony held at the embassy.
The awards were conferred in recognition of the duo’s professional excellence, philanthropy and valuable contributions to society.
Mr Ali, a businessman and philanthropist, has made significant contributions through his leadership of the Asghar Ali Group and Style Textile, his long-standing support for the education sector in Pakistan and the Pakistani community in Bahrain, and his service as board chairman of the Pakistan Urdu School in Bahrain since 2003.
Mr Abid, a prominent chartered accountant and philanthropist, has rendered outstanding services by mentoring and supporting aspiring Pakistani accounting professionals as well as through his charitable work in education, healthcare and the welfare of underprivileged communities.
The two residents expressed their gratitude to the President of Pakistan and the government of Pakistan for the honour, and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their efforts in service of the community and promoting Pakistan’s interests abroad.
