BOWLING – BAHRAIN Club and Um Al Hassam battled to a tight 4-4 stalemate in their hotly contested week six match-up of this season’s Bahrain Bowling League, currently being played at Funland Centre’s lanes.
Bahrain Club lost two of the three games in their series but posted the superior overall total of 2,233 to Um Al Hassam’s 2,137.
Um Al Hassam opened the contest taking game one 713-666, but Bahrain Club bounced back with an impressive 866-708 result in the second game. Um Al Hassam then finished strong, narrowly taking the third 716-701 but eventually missing out on the two bonus points to come away with the 4-4 tie.
Ahmed Fareed was Bahrain Club’s top scorer with a 648 individual series. His outing included a sensational perfect game of 300 in the second. Khaled Sameer chipped in with a 597 total while Emerson Gotencio scored 530 and Mohammed Mureed added 458.
For Um Al Hassam, Zeyad Alawadhi was their top man with a 623 score, while Ahmed Alansari contributed 574 pins. Isa Khaled posted a 477 total while Rashed Aldalhan scored 463.
With the draw, Bahrain Club went to 38 points in second place on the standings while Um Al Hassam improved to 34 in third.
Their share of the spoils allowed defending champions and current leaders Riffa to extend their advantage atop the standings following their resounding 8-0 (2,265-2,102) win against Busaiteen in another week six clash.
Riffa narrowly took the opening game 752-745 and then rode their momentum to the sweep with scores of 775-706 and 738-651 in the next two outings.
Ahmed Alkhaja led his team with a 614 series, while Fawaz Abdulla scored 566, Ahmed Algoud 558, and Mohammed Ali Janahi 527.
Veteran star Mohammed Al Shawoosh paced Busaiteen with a 612 total in the loss, while Yaser Alkhan had 562, Yousif Alali 480, and Francis Medios 448.
Riffa rose to 44 points in first place on the table.
Elsewhere in the sixth week of league action, bottom two clubs Al Ettifaq and Isa Town drew 4-4 (1,933-1,920) following a close contest. Isa Town took the first two games 648-595 and 675-653, but Ettifaq dominated the third 685-597, which helped them eke out the two extra points on totals.
Hussain Abdulkarim was Ettifaq’s leading scorer at 495, while Shaker Darraj had a 533 series for Isa Town.
Rounding out the results was Sanad’s 6-2 (2,087-1,973) triumph over Al Hala. Sanad bounced back from an opening game defeat of 684-701 with wins of 701-614 and 702-658.
Sayed Moosa had a 587 series to pace Sanad, while Waleed Darraj took down 534 pins as Hala’s top performer.
League action continues on Sunday next week with the seventh match day, which will mark the conclusion of the opening round of play. Riffa will take on Ettifaq, Bahrain Club will face Hala, Um Al Hassam will battle Sanad, and Busaiteen will play Isa Town.
