Kuwait’s Criminal Court on Monday sentenced a citizen to five years in prison with hard labour for murdering his Syrian wife.
The man was found guilty of severely assaulting his wife, causing injuries that led to her death.
The man fled to Iraq following the murder and was later extradited to Kuwait by Iraqi authorities.
The Public Prosecution initially charged the defendant with premeditated murder after he fled to Iraq. However, after reviewing the case, the court established that there was no intent to kill, so it changed the charge to manslaughter.
