The Royal Medical Services (RMS) – Bahrain Oncology Centre signed a co-operation framework agreement with the Zakat and Charity Fund of the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry aimed at supporting cancer patients and strengthening the system of medical and humanitarian care.
The initiative forms part of joint national efforts to promote social solidarity and enhance partnerships between state institutions and the community.
The co-operation reflects a shared vision to expand charitable and healthcare initiatives that serve patients and support the centre’s treatment, rehabilitation and research programmes. It will help enhance the centre’s medical and technical capabilities and advance its mission to provide world-class cancer care services.
Under the agreement, the Zakat and Charity Fund will allocate Zakat funds in accordance with Islamic principles to support eligible patients, while donations and public contributions will help finance the purchase of advanced medical equipment and the development of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
The partnership includes the launch of an online donation platform that enables individuals and institutions to easily and securely contribute to the centre’s health and research programmes, ensuring sustainable support and broader community participation.
Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Nawaf Al Maawda commended the partnership, affirming that this co-operation reflects the spirit of institutional co-operation in Bahrain. He noted that it enhances the healthcare sector’s efforts to provide assistance and care for those in need, while promoting values of generosity and social responsibility.
RMS Commander Brigadier General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa expressed his appreciation to the Zakat and Charity Fund for this pioneering initiative.
He said that the co-operation represents a significant step in supporting the Bahrain Oncology Centre’s services and strengthening its efforts to deliver advanced, comprehensive healthcare in line with Bahrain’s vision of a leading, integrated health system that places patients and their needs at the forefront.
