JUDO – BAHRAIN’S leading judokas are in China to compete in the Qingdao Grand Prix 2025, part of this year’s competition calendar of the International Judo Federation (IJF).
The kingdom’s national team are taking part with seven athletes who will be going for gold in five different weight categories.
Bahrainis Ramazan Kodzhakov and Mukhamed Aloev are set to hit the mat in the men’s under-73kg class, while Gadzhidavud Gasanov and Askerbii Gerbakov are to compete in the men’s under-81kg division.
Israpil Sagaipov is entered in the men’s under-90kg category, Said Sadrudinov in the men’s under-100kg class, and Azamat Chotchaev in the men’s over-100kg division.
Kodzhakov is first set to take on Steven Boldbaatar of the US in Pool B of his preliminary round, while Aloev will face Bereke Rakhmatullauly of Kazakhstan in Pool D.
Gasanov first faces Adilet Almat of Kazakhstan in Pool C of his weight class, where Gerbekov is in Pool D and will take on Youxiu of China in his opening bout.
Sagaipov locks horns with Astemir Abazov representing the IJF in Pool D of his division, Sadrudinov takes on Michal Jedrzejewski of Poland in Pool B of his class, and Chotchaev takes to the mat against Dong Lin of China in Pool C of his category.
