A massive brawl erupted in a Kuwaiti league match between Al-Qadsia and Kuwait SC, resulting in the detention of both clubs' presidents by the Interior Ministry.
The fight was a result of a controversial penalty in extra time that gave Kuwait SC the 2-1 victory. As soon as the match ended, fans and representatives from the clubs' administrations rushed onto the field to protest the referee's decision, leading to a brawl between members of the clubs.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Kuwait Football Association went on a seven-hour marathon of deliberation following the incident, formulating a list of strict penalties against those responsible.
The penalties range from match bans for some games to several years. Qadsiya club president Shaikh Fahad Talal Al Sabah, for example, was fined KD10,000 (BD12,340) and received a three-year ban from attending matches.
