Information Minister Dr Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Nuaimi and a senior delegation of media officials visited the Gulf Daily News yesterday in East Riffa.
The visiting party included Assistant Under-Secretary for News and Regulatory Affairs Abdulrahman Khalid Al Midfaa, Ministry of Information Development Advisor Maryam Bukamal, Minister’s Office Head of Media Section Maryam Hadi, and Director of Regulatory Affairs Shaikh Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
They were welcomed by GDN Chairman and Responsible Editor Anwar Abdulrahman, GDN Media Editor-in-Chief Stanley Szecowka, Al Hilal Group Executive Director Jubran Abdulrahman and Akhbar Al Khaleej’s General Manager Abdul Majeed Ali Haji.
Dr Al Nuaimi affirmed the distinguished role played by the Gulf Daily News in highlighting Bahrain’s developmental achievements under the reign of His Majesty King Hamad, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He pointed out that the presence of a multilingual press in the kingdom embodies the ‘diversity of the national media landscape’ and enhances the Press’ ability to convey the nation’s achievements, ‘using an approach based on accuracy, objectivity and balanced presentation that reflects the spirit of media responsibility’.
“I am here to thank you for the great work,” Dr Al Nuaimi told the GDN Media team yesterday.
“We see your efforts through the paper and online every day, which reflects a good image of our beloved country.
“This is a big responsibility that you are performing at the highest standards for a local audience and for the world.
“I’m grateful and wanted to personally come and thank you all,” he added, after touring the GDN Media newsroom and meeting our team of journalists working for the print, online and social media sections, bringing readers local, regional and international news and views around the clock.
“It was a delight to host a visit by the minister and his team and highlight our efforts to inform, entertain and communicate across many platforms with our growing family of readers at home and abroad, as well as promoting the country we love and call home,” said Mr Szecowka.
