BASKETBALL – Bahrain's youth basketball national team received a hero’s welcome yesterday upon their return to the kingdom after clinching the title in the 22nd U16 Arab Basketball Championship for Youth, held in Cairo, Egypt.
The kingdom’s delegation was received upon reaching Bahrain International Airport by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Bahrain Weightlifting Federation president Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq, Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) president Nader Al Awadhi, BBA secretary general Ahmed Hafez, BOC sports associations director Hesham Albeloshi, BOC sports project management director Lounes Madene, and other officials.
Bahrain claimed their historic first-ever crown in the history of the tournament, which was organised and run by the Arab Basketball Confederation in co-operation with the Egyptian Basketball Federation.
Their triumph continued their recent sensational run, adding to their championship from the Fiba U16 Asia Cup Gulf Basketball Association Qualifiers 2025.
The youth national team, which is a product of the Khalid bin Hamad Golden Generation League, now shift their focus to the Fiba U16 Asia Cup 2025, to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, next month.
