BOXING – Bahrain's biggest and most-anticipated charity boxing event will be taking place on November 27, it has been revealed.
Royal Rumble IV, featuring boxers representing Bahrain’s Royal Guard and the UK Armed Forces, will be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Last year’s event was a massive success, with around BD60,000 raised for the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), while Bahrain’s Royal Guard won six of their eight bouts against the British Army’s Royal Engineers.
This year’s black-tie affair, to be held at Crowne Plaza Bahrain, will feature a number of mega names in boxing as special guests.
They include two-time world champion and Athens 2004 Olympics silver-medallist Amir Khan, WBO cruiserweight and WBC bridgerweight world champion Lawrence Okolie, and WBA (Regular) super-middleweight world champion Rocky Fielding, along with former world champions Darren Barker and Barry Jones, who will be commentators for the evening.
More details of the prestigious fight night will be announced at a launch Press conference on August 28.
Last year’s results maintained the winning record for Bahrain’s Royal Guard in the three editions of Royal Rumble.
In the first edition in 2022, the Royal Guard boxers took on the British Army’s Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and won eight of the nine bouts. In 2023, the Royal Guard defeated the British Army’s Parachute Regiment in six of the nine contests.
