ASIAN YOUTH GAMES – Preparations continue to intensify for the kingdom’s hosting of the third Asian Youth Games (AYG), set to take place from October 22 to 31.
The mega sporting event is to be held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad.
The organising committee has stepped up its efforts to ensure optimal comfort for participants coming from all over the world. This commitment reflects Bahrain’s status and high organisational capabilities.
AYG accommodations committee head Noor Hussain stated: “We have made it a priority to select outstanding hotels that provide all necessary services to create a conducive environment for athletes and official delegations.
“The executive committee will offer more than 20 hotels for the participating delegations, featuring both five-star and four-star accommodations, with over 3,000 hotel rooms available.
“We have identified four main hotels for the event, which will include essential services such as medical assistance and accreditation cards. Hotel bookings will be open from October 17 to November 1, 2025.”
Hussain further emphasised that the hotels have been carefully selected to ensure comfort for the VIPs, athletes, media personnel, referees, and technical delegates taking part.
Comprehensive services will be available, with committee members and volunteers on hand to assist delegations, ensuring a successful hosting of the games.
This year’s AYG will serve as a qualifying event for the Youth Olympic Games, to be held in Dakar, Senegal in the summer of 2026.
The Olympic Council of Asia and the local organising committee have approved 24 sports for the event, including swimming, athletics, badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, camel racing, cycling, equestrian events, E-sports, futsal, golf, handball, jiu-jitsu, judo, kabaddi, mixed martial arts, Muay, table tennis, taekwondo, teqball, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, and wrestling.
Seven sports will commence prior to the official opening ceremony on October 22. These include boys’ futsal, handball, and volleyball, starting on October 19, followed by girls’ futsal, kabaddi, teqball, and beach volleyball, all beginning on October 21.
The final day of the AYG on October 31 will only feature men’s and women’s swimming events and their awards presentation, alongside the official closing ceremony.
