Thousands in Norway woke up two days ago believing they had won millions overnight due to an error by the state-owned gambling company.
A notification was sent to an undisclosed number of people informing them that they had won massive jackpot prizes after an error occurred with the conversion from euros to Norwegian kroner.
The amount was multiplied by 100, instead of being divided by 100, leading to amounts in the hundreds of thousands and millions being displayed to many people, with one example showing 1.2 million kroner (BD 45,000).
The company hastily corrected the error and apologised, with the head of the company resigning the following day.
